A First-Generation Digital Publisher
I’ve worked professionally as a writer, editor, content developer, copywriter, and WordPress publisher for more than two decades, creating content across the travel, healthcare, education, advocacy, nonprofit, and digital media sectors.
People sometimes look at the variety of projects I’ve worked on and wonder how I developed such a broad skillset.
The answer is simple. I was fortunate to be part of the first generation of digital publishers.
I began building websites and publishing online long before social media became the primary way people discovered content. By the time blogging reached its peak around 2009, I had already spent years creating websites, publishing articles, building audiences, and learning how search engines, communities, and online publishing worked together.
My flagship website, My Several Worlds, consistently ranked among the world’s top travel blogs. At the same time, I helped grow Reach To Teach Recruiting into one of the largest ESL recruitment agencies serving teachers throughout Asia.
Those experiences taught me that successful publishing isn’t just about writing.
It’s about building systems.
Around the same time, I became part of The Third Tribe, the collaborative learning community created by Darren Rowse (ProBlogger), Brian Clark and Sonia Simone (Copyblogger), and Chris Brogan. It brought together digital publishers, marketers, and entrepreneurs who were experimenting with what online business could become.
That environment fundamentally shaped how I work today. I learned how to create content that lasts, build sustainable publishing workflows, and think strategically about websites as long-term business assets rather than collections of individual posts.
Today, those same principles form the foundation of The CM Effect™. I help businesses organize their knowledge, simplify their workflows, and build systems that continue creating value long after the initial work is complete.
